Yana Mann — Opera Singer & Multidisciplinary Artist

Yana Mann is an opera singer and multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between classical music, contemporary song cycles, electronic sound, and interdisciplinary performance.

Born in St. Petersburg, she began her musical training in classical music and theatre, studying at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music, the Tchaikovsky Academic Music College at the Moscow State Conservatory, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), and later the Academy of Young Opera Singers at the Mariinsky Theatre. During this period, she performed at the Mariinsky Theatre, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

In 2014, she moved to Dubai, where her practice expanded across performance, moving image, sound, and collaboration with visual artists and cultural institutions. Her work is shaped by an approach to voice that moves fluidly across genre and context, combining operatic technique with contemporary visual and sonic language.

In 2021, she released Los Poemas de Bar, a song cycle commissioned from Brooklyn-based composer Julián De La Chica and published by Irreverence Group Music. In February 2022, she made her sold-out debut at Carnegie Hall in the world premiere performances of 11 Poemas de Bar Op. 12 and Arias Florentinas Op. 15. The same year, she released Mandala – VI Poems, collaborated with Demayä and Arkadyan on Esperanza through Scorpios Music, and became the first creative beneficiary of the Art Dubai Art Salon initiative.

In 2023, she collaborated with Michael Canitrot on a filmed performance atop the Eiffel Tower for a UNESCO-supported commemoration of Gustave Eiffel’s centenary. The film later premiered on French national television alongside the release of Lost in the Dark on Michael Canitrot’s label. In 2024 and 2025, she appeared at the Berlin Philharmonie with Fusion of Epochs: Classical and Contemporary, an interdisciplinary programme combining contemporary vocal works with classical repertoire. In 2025, she released Forever We Young with Arkadyan through Africanism, founded by Bob Sinclar.

Based in the UAE since 2014, Yana Mann has developed projects across performance, exhibition, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her work has been presented through Dubai Culture, Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Emirates Airlines in-flight programming, and Dubai One TV.
